The Sir Peter Scott Lighthouse, Sutton Bridge, Lincolnshire
While exploring various points of access to The Wash in Lincolnshire & Norfolk, we discovered "The Sir Peter Scott Lighthouse" along the River Nene near Sutton Bridge in Lincolnshire. Relatively quiet for birds in September, this area along with the rest of The Wash NNR is a haven for wintering wildfowl and waders.
Describing it as "The Most Iconic and Inspirational building in the history of Global Conservation" would seem a bold claim until one realises this was the home of... the young Peter Scott and "it was here that he underwent a seismic conversion from wildfowler to famous artist and writer before going on to become the most influential naturalist and conservationist the world has ever seen, founder member of the World Wildlife Fund and the Wildfowl and Wetlands Trust." A bright day (with an evocative flypast by a Spitfire and Hurricane from the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight against blue skies ... although I was too slow with the camera!), I concentrated on photographing the wild flowers using backlighting as much as possible as well as attempting to capture the lighthouse from different perspectives.
